What is Biomechanical Podiatry?
Biomechanical Podiatry practice aims to diagnose, treat and manage podiatric complaints by examining your body as an entire ‘mechanical’ unit.
We understand biomechanical anomalies of your legs and feet can cause specific conditions, pain and dysfunction in your feet, ankles, knees, legs and hips, and all that they support.
Your biomechanical consultation at Elite Foot Care begins with advanced diagnoses using the most current methodologies in podiatry and biomechanics.
Initial Biomechanical Consultation
The presenting injury/symptom will be assessed upon relevant medical history, conditions, occupational hazards and physical activities. Once a thorough medical screening has been conducted, the particular condition will be assessed and diagnosed
Conservative treatment for acute injuries will begin immediately. If further investigation is warranted, the patient will be referred for an X-ray, Ultrasound, MRI etc.
If a chronic condition or injury is present relating to the patients biomechanical function, the patient will be advised to return for a biomechanical examination and gait analysis.
Gait Analysis
Walking and running will be assessed with video analysis giving us the most accurate information to evaluate the patients upper body functions through to their lower limbs.
Treatment
After a comprehensive gait analysis and consultation, a treatment plan will be prescribed.
Treatment plans may consist of:
- customised digital orthotics
- shockwave therapy
- dry needling therapy
- trigger point therapy
- joint mobilisation
- strapping
- stretching and strengthening regime
- muscular, neural and facial release
Patients are guided through their rehabilitation program step by step and reviewed periodically to enable best outcomes and maintain results.
